The Set Lab grew from my love of nail art and creating something a little different. 

Hi, I’m Cath — the founder of The Set Lab, the face behind Teal Roses Nails, a mum of three and a little bit obsessed with nail art.

My professional background might not be what you’d expect! I’ve spent 25 years working in forensic and analytical chemistry, with particular expertise in chemical hazards, laboratory safety and contamination control. I also have extensive experience training and mentoring others, along with formal training in delivering training to small groups.

Alongside my science career, I’m currently studying a Certificate III in Nail Technology, building on years of learning, experimenting and creating nail art.

That combination of science, teaching and creativity has shaped the way I’ve created The Set Lab. I’m particular about safety, hygiene, organisation and the products and processes I use, but I also want every experience to feel relaxed, creative and genuinely fun.

As a mum of three, I know kids and teens need the right balance of guidance and freedom to experiment, be creative and make something that feels completely their own.

The Set Lab brings together so many things I love — teaching, creativity, attention to detail and, of course, a slightly ridiculous obsession with beautiful nails.

I personally host every Set Lab party and Set & Sip, and I’m there to guide, help and encourage everyone along the way.
